The Society of St Margaret was founded by John Mason Neale in 1855 in East Grinstead. In 1947 three Sisters from the house in Haggerston moved to Walsingham to form a house to help at the Shrine of Our Lady.
The Sisters are a Traditional Anglican Community whose daily life is centred on the Eucharist and the daily Office, from which flows our growing involvement in the ministry of healing, and reconciliation in the Shrine, the local parishes and the wider Church. We welcome guests in our guest house for short periods of rest, relaxation and retreat, and are available to pilgrims and visitors. We also work in the Education Department in the Shrine

The bank will not accept cheques made out to The Society of St Margaret or to an individual Sister.

Following the advice given by the Archbishops on Tuesday 17th March 2020, there will be no public worship in the Priory chapel until further notice.
The Sisters will continue to say all the Offices in private and intercessions usually included in Mass will continue to be prayed for in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
Our chapel will remain locked until further notice.
We are sorry to inform you that the Priory Guest Accommodation is closed from Friday 20th March until further notice.
Those who have already booked to stay will have their visit postponed pro tem. Re-booking can occur once the current situation has resolved.
The Priory Dedication Festival due to be held on 14th May and St Margaret's Festival due to be held on 23rd July have been cancelled.
